Poster Competition on Caribbean Human Development Report on Citizen’s Security

The UNDP Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean launched a Poster Competition for the Caribbean Human Development Report 2012 on Citizen's Security. The winning design will be used on the cover of the report. The contest,  which ran from 27th of May to 25th of June, 2011 was open to the citizen of all the Countries covered by the CHDR. The prize will be US$ 1000.00 cash and a trip to attend the launch of the report in Trinidad and Tobago.

This Poster competition has recognized the importance of youth and their contribution to Citizen Security. In light of this UNDP called on participants to develop a poster which illustrates the theme "Youth violence is an exception rather than a rule: Releasing youth vitality through investing in them." The illustration could reflect specific understanding of the impact of security on quality of life, safety of communities and neighborhoods, livelihoods, individual security and citizen safety. It could also reflect how crime prevalence including domestic violence, youth and community crimes deter the safety of communities, schools and families.

60 percent of the judging has been done through a formal panel constituted by the lead author of the HDR - Citizen Security;   a representative from the artistic community and UNDP Country Officers from the CHDR target countries.

40 percent of the judging has been done via online voting on the  Caribbean HDR Facebook Page

The winner has been proclaimed on July 19, 2011  on the Caribbean HDR Facebook page. After a careful consideration the judging panel has declared Timothy Bootan, Trinidad and Tobago national, as the winner of the UNDP Caribbean Human Development Report on Citizen Security Poster Competition. More>
