The Jeffrey Town Farmers Association (JTFA) is one of 35 community initiatives that were awarded the Equator Prize in 2014. The JTFA received the award for its outstanding contribution to environmental conservation, poverty reduction and climate action. The Jamaican NGO was selected for this honour from 1,234 nominations submitted by communities in 121 countries across the world. This case study highlights the best practices and methodologies employed by the JFTA which make them a model of sustainable development at the community level.
