Here in Jamaica, a report from the Ministry of Health recently outlined the massive burden on surgical capacities caused by road-related injuries. In medical costs and lost productivity, road fatalities and injuries can cost a country up to 5% of its gross domestic product. Global losses reach $500 billion dollars.

The President of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Wednesday, 19 April welcomed the appointment of Achim Steiner as the Organization’s new Administrator.Mr. Steiner’s nomination was forwarded to the General Assembly, which Wednesday confirmed him as the Administrator of UNDP for a term of four years.
Jamaica Ratifies Paris Agreement

Jamaica became the 143rd country to ratify the Paris Agreement today (11th April) when Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Hon. Daryl Vaz officially presented the instrument of ratification today at a national climate change event in Kingston.
