On Turks and Caicos Islands, the tell-tale signs of two category five storms lingered through February 2018, especially on Grand Turk and South Caicos, but men and women working shoulder to shoulder have been cleaning up, while earning some home repair money.

In schools and small communities hit by drought the ongoing installation of climate resilient and smart technologies and water harvesting infrastructure under the Japan Caribbean Climate Change Partnership (JCCCP) will support their dreams of potable water for home and productive use. J-CCCP's pilot projects in Jamaica are supporting 70 schools and several communities in St. Ann and Clarendon with water infrastructure.

Challenged by high electricity light bills caused by illegal connections to their power supply, the St Andrew Settlement in an innercity Kingston neighbourhood sought help from the UNDP-implemented GEF Small Grants Programme. They turned to the sun for their supply, implementing a solar energy system and training programme which has reduced their carbon footprint, lessened their bills and changed lives.

Nurse Allen describes himself as a caregiver first and foremost and does not view himself or his profession through gender lens. He says that his patients often mistake him or refer to him as “Doc” even though he always introduces himself as Nurse Allen. He admits that in his early days as a nurse he would receive more positive acceptance from patients rather than his peers.
