UNDP Praises Youth Engagement Around Climate Change in Jamaica

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was one of the sponsors of a logo competition for the selection of a logo for the Climate Change Division of Jamaica’s Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change. The logo was selected from designs created by young people from across the island.
UN Supports Song, Video for Campaign to End Sex with the Girl Child

The United Nations-supported launch of the Nuh Guh Deh song and video took place on 2 May 2015. The launch marked a step forward in the Nuh Guh Deh campaign organised by NGO Eve for Life, and took place at Emancipation Park in Kingston. Nuh Guh Deh – which translated from Jamaican patois means Don’t Go There – is a campaign to end sexual abuse of the girl child in Jamaica.
US Ambassador Visits UNDP Country Office

The United States Ambassador to Jamaica, Mr. Luis G. Moreno paid a courtesy call on the UNDP Country Office. The Ambassador met with a UNDP team comprising Dr. Arun Kashyap, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative; Dr. Elsie Laurence-Chounoune, Deputy Resident Representative; Mr. Richard Kelly, Programme Specialist-Policy Advisory Services; and Ms. Rachel Morrison, Project Manager.

Eleven schools from across the island presented. Munro College, representing the United Kingdom was judged to have made the best presentation and Vere Technical High School, representing Costa Rica, placed second
UNDP Supports Inaugural Anti-Corruption Conference in Jamaica

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jamaica provided support to the Office of the Contractor General’s Inaugural Anti-Corruption Conference in Jamaica, held in Kingston in March 2015. The three-day event, which drew hundreds of participants from across the island, was held under the theme “Confronting Corruption: Empowering a Generation, Transforming a Nation.” UNDP was a title sponsor of the event.
