The GEF SGP has been working in Jamaica since the programme’s official launch in 2005.
The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) provides grant funding to community based organizations and non-governmental organizations to help them protect the environment, adapt to the challenges posed by climate change and generate sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable communities across the island.
The programme is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by UNDP on behalf of the GEF partnership, and is executed by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
GEF-SGP has supported projects across a number of parishes in Jamaica. Projects include rainwater harvesting, sustainable agriculture, land management and watershed protection, renewable energy and biodiversity conservation.
