14th Annual International Development Partners Retreat (IDP)

The International Development Partners Retreat is an annual working meeting between the IDPs and the Government of Jamaica. The aim of this meeting is to facilitate dialogue between International Development Partners (IDPs) and the Government of Jamaica (GOJ) for the upcoming year.

The retreat in 2008 was convened under the theme, "The Impact of the Global Financial Crisis" had 3 specific objectives:

  1. Analyse the possible impact of the Global Financial Crisis on Jamaica
  2. Understand Government of Jamaica (GOJ) developmental priorities as expressed in Strategic Frameworks and Policies and how achievement of stated goals may be affected by the global crisis
  3. Align the developmental goals / plans of the International Development Partners (IDPs) with those of the GOJ

The duration of the retreat was two days with the following format:

a. Plenary Sessions designed to outline the Developmental Priorities of the GOJ and Assess the Impact of the Financial Crisis
b. Consultative Working Group Sessions which were designed to allow for more detailed analyses of four key areas namely, Debt, Public Finance and Economic Growth; Education; Food Security; National Security, Justice and Crime. The consultative working group sessions allowed for the analysis of the current status, identification of gaps and the development of preliminary plans for development
