UNDP is assisting the Government of Jamaica in embarking on a process to integrate Migrations and Development into the National Development Plan.
Wednesday, May 4, 2011 witnessed the official signing ceremony for the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the 2012-2016 period.
UNDP Jamaica in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Mining sponsored an Energy Conservation, Efficiency and Management Training Programme which was specifically designed for Officers in Government Agencies responsible for Energy Management. This activity marked the culmination of UNDP support to the Government of Jamaica throughout its process of implementing an Energy Policy "Next Steps" Programme, after completion of the National Energy Policy.
24 Community members successfully completed a ROOTS FM Community Broadcasters' Training Programme - "Strengthening community voices". This successful initiative was a part of the UNDP civil society support following the West Kingston unrest in May 2010.
Weston Oswald Lewis, UNDP Jamaica senior driver, is retiring after 38 years of exemplary service.
Coming to its end, the successful results of the UNDP supported Jamaica Violence Prevention, Peace and sustainable Development Programme (JVPPSD) were celebrated at the Federal Gardens Community Centre in Trench Town, Kingston-Jamaica on the 30 March, 2011. The occasion also served as a soft launch of the programme's initiative: the Jamaica Music Institute (JAMIN).
UNDP signed a partnership agreement with the Government of Jamaica for a parish safety project to be implemented by the Department of Local Government (DLG).
Minh Pham, UNDP Jamaica's Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator completed a week of fond goodbyes to colleagues, partners and friends before leaving Jamaica to assume his new appointment as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for the Laos People's Democratic Republic.
