Profile: |
|
|
This project aims to enhance the opportunities, capacities and capabilities of Jamaicans within the European diaspora, in particular the United Kingdom (UK) and, throughout Jamaica. However, the aim is to develop models and methodologies that can be replicated in Diaspora locations in the United States of America (U.S.A.) and Canada. The main goal of this project which falls under the theme Migrant Communities is, Creating sustainable networks amongst migrants communities for development. The project will integrate the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to address this thematic goal. This will be done through the development of a Web portal which pulls together existing online communities and creating an online environment/presence for offline communities through the development of websites and web pages. The project seeks to connect the Jamaican diaspora, provide a space for the sharing of critical development information, tap into the knowledge base of the Jamaican diaspora, develop transnational multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder people networks in the diaspora, identify diaspora demographic configuration and develop local capabilities through networking. Develop an online database capturing the diaspora demographic configuration and the diaspora network capabilities to tap into these resources for the development of Jamaica. |
