New United Nations Resident Coordinator pledges support for inclusive Development and a viable, "Green" Economy in Jamaica

During a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Dr. the Hon. Kenneth Baugh, Dr. Arun Kashyap, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of UNDP, gave his assurance of the continued commitment of the United Nations Country Team to assist Jamaica to achieve inclusive development.

Responding to Deputy Prime Minister Baugh's outline of national priorities and Jamaica's on-going efforts at achieving sustainable development and ensuring the country's resilience to climate change, Dr. Kashyap said that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) would continue to develop Jamaica's capability to leverage global resources to launch scalable projects. He assured tha UNDP would provide critical technical and financial support to make Jamaica an example of a viable ‘green' economy. Simultaneously, he assured that the UN system would work together and contribute to Jamaica's effort in fulfilling its vision 2030. 

Dr. Arun Kashyap assumed duties as the new United Nations Resident Coordinator in Jamaica and Resident Representative of UNDP on Tuesday, October 18, 2011.
