Democratic Governance & Peacebuilding

Working on crime, violence, corruption and citizen’s safety, security and participation

UNDP seeks to deepen democracy by strengthening national and local capacity for increasing citizens’ safety and security and access to justice with due regard for the human rights for all, including vulnerable groups. Effective, responsive, accessible and fair justice systems will promote the rule of law, with due regard for the rights of the poor, women and vulnerable groups such as migrants.

Our work

UNDP is helping to advance citizens’ security and safety by supporting voice and participation at the local and community levels, promoting social cohesion, expanding access to basic services and assisting the Government to improve community governance systems.

Related Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

Our work also contributes to SDG number one – No Poverty.
